Peter Rabbit - Grades 3-4
In this tutorial, we will be inspired by the artwork of famous book illustrator, Beatrix Potter, in “The Tale of Peter Rabbit”.
We will learn about proportions and using pencil and eraser to sketching our rabbit. Add surrounding details that tell us about his surroundings and use your intuition as an artist to add your own touch.
Use a Black permanent extra fine point sharpie to outline, using different types of line to convey textures or shadows. Color carrots, leaves, bird and details in oil pastels, blending colors to add interest and depth. Learn to paint wet on wet using watercolors to add washes and layers. Continue adding textures and details in fur and background.
Materials used:
11 x 14 watercolor paper, pencil, eraser, extra fine black permanent sharpie, oil pastels, watercolors, paintbrushes (large, medium, small) and water.
