This tutorial is inspired by the country mouse character Timmy Willie from Beatrix Potter’s book, "The Tale of Johnny Town-Mouse."

Learn how to sketch your little mouse in proportion and decide whether it will be holding a leaf as an umbrella. Make it your own story. Add flowers in your background, leaves, and a path.

Color the flowers, leaves and path texture using oil pastels. Learn about the wet-on-wet technique to paint your mouse using layers and washes. Add texture to convey fur with a small paintbrush. Lastly paint your background in blues and greens and your path in a soft sandy color.

Materials used:
11 x 14 watercolor paper, pencil, eraser, black permanent ultra-fine point sharpie, oil pastels, watercolors, paintbrushes (large, medium, small), water.
